On Tuesday morning, June 30, Kanye West released his new single “Wash Us In The Blood” featuring Travi$ Scott. With all that is going on in society, the abrasive song and visual are the appropriately complicated response that fans have come to expect from the multifaceted superstar.
Directed by L.A.-based video artist Arthur Jafa, known for his work with Spike Lee and Solange, the clip presents a cascade of images of imprisoned people, an unmanned drone, a woman struggling to breathe and West’s daughter North at a rehearsal by the rapper’s Sunday Service Choir.
Co-produced by West, BoogzDaBeast, Ronny J, FNZ, and Dem Jointz — “Wash Us In The Blood” recalls the harsh industrial sound of West’s 2013 album “Yeezus” and was mixed by the legendary Dr. Dre. The song is the first single from West’s upcoming album, “God’s Country,” which follows the 2019 releases of “Jesus Is King” and “Jesus Is Born”.
