Since performances on the “BET Awards 13” and “The View,” singer/songwriter Curtis Fields is enjoying his newfound fame, and is more anxious than ever to release his debut album. The ATL resident recently signed with Epic Records and is promoting his new single, “Opposites Attract,” produced by Sam Hook.
Part of what got Curtis on the industry radar was his usage of the iPhone apps: iShred and Guitar Studio. These mobile apps were essential to getting his songs recorded and were utilized as his backline during performances.
“Those two apps were career altering,” Fields says. “It was done out of necessity. I didn’t have access to studios. I didn’t have a keyboard, a guitar or anything other than my voice. But I wanted to express myself musically, and create different sounds and progressions.
“It’s amazing to see how my whole career was fueled by technology,” he continues. “I was a computer science major in college but I never expected technology to be this powerful catalyst in my life. It’s crazy to see how things have snowballed.”
Fields is diligently at work writing and recording for his Epic Records debut. Signed to a publishing deal through Rondor Music, he has been working closely with executive producers/songwriters and brothers Timothy & Theron Thomas of Rock City, in addition to the production team called the Co-Captains.
“My goal is to make a great album out of the gate,” says Fields; “music that crosses genres and is embraced by the masses. But I’m most looking forward to performing. I’ve always loved performing and entertaining people. I think it is what I was born to do.” http://www.thecurtisfields.com/
