Beyonce has announced her newest endeavor via a scintillating, Afrocentric trailer.
Based on music from Lion King: The Gift, a new Beyonce helmed visual album entitled Black Is King is set to premiere globally on Disney+ on July 31. Arriving on the one year anniversary of The Lion King, the album will celebrate Black resilience and culture while reimagining the film’s lessons for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns.
Written, directed and executive produced by Beyonce, the film was in production for one year with a cast and crew that represents diversity and connectivity. Disney describes the film as “a story for the ages that informs and rebuilds the present. A reunion of cultures and shared generational beliefs. A story of how the people left most broken have an extraordinary gift and a purposeful future.”
